Child Labor in Maryland (MD)
Both Maryland and federal law
restrict the employment of minors. When Maryland child labor laws differ
from applicable federal provisions, an employer must comply with the
higher standard. Maryland state child labor standards are presented
below. However, Maryland’s child labor laws do not apply to certain
non-hazardous jobs performed outside school hours, including, but not
limited to: caddying, newspaper delivery, farm work, domestic work, and
work for a parent’s business.
