Illinois Discrimination
Several
federal
laws provide workplace discrimination protections for employees. In
addition, the Illinois Human Rights Act (IHRA) provides broad workplace
discrimination protections to employees in Illinois.
Covered Employers
The
IHRA generally applies to employers with at
least 15 employees in Illinois during 20 or more calendar weeks in the
current or preceding calendar year. However, all employers must comply with the IHRA's prohibitions against
discrimination based upon physical or mental disability, sex, and pregnancy.
